Smalls Report for May......

Here is my May Smalls SAL report.  Be sure to check out her link on my sidebar or just move your cursor over the links in this post. This is from The Primitive Hare 2014 Design Contest.  We were to purchase the chart from The Primitive Hare but the thread color was left up to our imagination!  It also had to be "finished completely" to enter it in the contest.

I absolutely love the color pink so I knew I wanted some of it to be pink.  When I saw the needle, well, I automatically think shiny silver color.  Yes I know there are gold needles out there but the needles I use are all silver.  I used a Kreinik #4 Silver Braid for the needle color. Then I needed to decide WHAT COLOR for the scissors!  Oh my!  What color do I stitch it in???  Yes.....I have many different colored scissors!  Why you may ask????   Because they looked cute or I just "had to have" them to add to the collection.  In the end, I just used a darker grey color for the scissors as it just flowed with the color scheme.

Here is the back which I was able to find a lovely coordinating fabric to match  my thread color.  I used a pink chenille trim around the edges and filled it with just a little bit of walnut shells to add some weight to the pincushion and the remaining with Polyfil.

That is all I have to share for today.  I hope you are finding something enjoyable to stitch on today.  I'm off to work on an ornament for a Christmas present.

Happy Stitching!

TUSAL report for May.......

Today is my TUSAL report!!!  Be sure to move your cursor over the small TUSAL icon above to be taken to her blog to find out more about it.  Here I've taken a picture of my ORT threads in my small painted tin that I keep by me when I stitch.  It almost got filled up again.

Here is a picture of my ORT jar after I've added these threads to it.  It's really getting filled up!

Happy Stitching!

Happy Memorial Day......

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day!!!!  This holiday is extremely personal for me especially since we are a military family.  I know the sacrifices that our families and military members have sacrificed long ago and now.

I also want to honor all those who have fought for our country's freedom long ago and those who are currently serving in our military now.

Long ago, our family had the privilege to visit the national monuments in Washington DC.  My husband took this picture of our children when they were really small, and it has always touched my heart.  This picture shows my daughter and son's reflection on the monument in the Korean War Memorial.  As you can see, it was January 27, 2007 in my picture, and it was a very cold day with the kids wearing their heavy jackets.  The monument wall is engraved with the words "FREEDOM IS NOT FREE".  Oh so how true!

Seeing this picture again reminds me of a chart I have and want to xstitch up by Willow Hill Samplings called "Land of The Free......Because of the Brave".  I don't have a picture of the chart but you can do your own research to find what it looks like.  Maybe I will go pull it out today and start stitching on it!  It is all kitted up and ready to be started!  (Like I need an excuse to start a new project!)

Happy Memorial Day everyone!

Happy Mother's Day

I want to wish all the mom's out there a very Happy Mother's Day!  I will be calling my mom to wish her a very Happy Mother's Day early my time in the morning and Skype with her after we get home from church service.  That is one of the great things of having a daughter to live close to her and have a computer to Skype!  My parents don't have a computer and do not want one so it will be great to see both my mom (and dad) and my daughter tomorrow.  My daughter has finished her college courses for this year and is just staying with them for a little while before coming back to live at home.  I miss them very much as well as my mother in law.  My husband is preparing a special Mother's Day sermon so I'm anxious to hear that as well.

I hope to spend the day stitching the hours away and perhaps watching some DVDs with my husband and son.  I might even pull out a special new xstitch project to stitch just for me for Mother's Day!

A free Mother's Day design

Oh what a beautiful and quick to stitch chart that Sandy of Stitchin' and Life in A Small Town has designed up and posted on her blog.  I came across it as I was going through my blog list seeing what everyone was stitching or doing.  So if you need a quick last minute gift to hurry and stitch up for your mother, please go to check out her blog and download this adorable little chart.  I hope to make mine into a pincushion for my mom!!!
